some_text JUNE 8-14 HAMILTON, ON

The Steel City Bike Festival is a 6 day festival that was created to promote the benefits that cycling has on our community. Besides being good for you, riding your bike helps the environment (zero emissions!), doesn't cost much (bye-bye gas!), and allows you to see things that you wouldn't normally notice when driving a vehicle. The Steel City Bike Festival will be hosting various events throughout the city such as bike repair clinics, film screening, group rides, bike demos, and more.

Additional information and tickets for events can be found at New Hope Bikes, 1422 Main Street East, Hamilton

2013 Film Festival!

Once again there will be a film festival where your cycle related films will be showcased, so get out your iPhone, handycam, 16mm, whatever it is and shoot a cycle related video. Great prizes to be had and fun for all involved.

This years feature film will be Ride the Divide, a great documentary about the world’s toughest mountain bike race. It’s a compelling story no matter how or what you ride.

An award-winning feature film about the world’s toughest mountain bike race, which traverses over 2700 miles along the Continental Divide in the Rocky Mountains. The film weaves the story of three characters’ experiences with immense mountain beauty and small-town culture as they attempt to pedal from Banff, Canada to a small, dusty crossing on the Mexican border.”

Memorial Ride for Blane

image

Friday, June 14th we will be hosting a Memorial Ride for Blane—but at night. Instead of a traditional memorial with candles, we’ll be lighting up our bikes with glow sticks, LEDs, glow in the dark paint—you name it—and we’ll be doing a group ride to celebrate the life of Blane.

Bike lights and other things that glow will be available for purchase at a low cost prior to the ride. Please note that helmets are mandatory.

Check out the route on Google Maps, here.
